To understand the extent to which counterfeit honey is sold in the EU, EPBA is currently conducting analyses through its national member associations across the EU.

As a result, the Swedish Beekeepers’ Association and Honungsringen intend to scan the honey sold in Swedish grocery stores.

We are now planning to collect honey from all food chains, both Swedish and imported honey, to send for analysis in Estonia. To get as broad a picture of the situation in Sweden as possible, and to work on the problems, we want to collect as many samples and brands as we can. Among these samples, we would like to include all brands containing imported honey or mixtures between Swedish/EU honey and imported honey.

In order to make a reasonable assessment of honey fraud, we need to send at least 30 samples. Each analysis costs EUR 250 each and we need help and support to finance the analyses.
We are therefore launching a national fundraising campaign to support this project.

Here’s how you can contribute: Swish your contribution to Biodlingsföretagarna on 123-107 14 06 or scan the QR code at the bottom.
